Reposting this pic as the Twitter joke trial reached the High Court appeal today. It's utterly baffling to me that this nonsense has got this far without someone doing anything remotely sensible. If you have no idea why I made a cross stitch of a criminal and "clearly menacing" tweet, you can read more about this Orwellian nightmare  here and here.

Bags, bags, bags

It's chaos and mayhem in casa Blaize at the moment, but the good kind - lots of redecorating and reorganizing, and in some cases just plain organizing of things that were never actually organized in the first place. And we have a new car, which facilitates lots of organizing but is also scary because I haven't driven in about eight years and need to relearn. But more importantly a car means a trip to Hobbycraft and buying supplies for the next few ridiculous craft projects, which is very exciting!

But until those crazy crafts are completed, have a post with some bags. These are a few of the pay it forward gifts I made last year, and there's some more stuff to come just as soon as I work through the backlog of unposted crafts!

Geek Lamp 2: Electric Boogaloo

After I made my own geekiest lamp in all of geekdom a friend of mine (the very friend who lent me his Enterprise D blueprints) commissioned me to make him a table lamp with an Enterprise design. Took me ages to find a lamp I could customise and then ages again to actually decide which bit of the ship to put on it, but I really like what I ended up with, so maybe all that time was worth it! Here's how it turned out:

Star Trek crafts: I Wish I Knew How To Quit You

I may have made a few too many cross stitched Star Trek badges here. I didn't mean to fill a whole sheet of cross stitch fabric with them, but somehow I did. I'd just add another one every so often when I was between projects, and then somehow I ended up with twenty of them (these are just the ones that came out best!). A worrying number of my projects lately have felt somewhat involuntary. I am possessed by some strange spirit of craftiness. Weird.

Anyway, have some Star Trek insignia. They're all on 58mm (2 1/4") badges. And if anyone wants a pattern for any of these just ask!

My handbag is going to die

Yaay! Normal service should be resuming on my internets soon - apparently the phone line coming into our building was composed mainly of rust, so no wonder it's been acting like dial up for months.

Today's crafty post is (yet another) Trekkie thingamabob. It's probably an idea that would have worked better on a red t-shirt, but I had a red beach bag and I wanted to do this, so to hell with logic!

   

Star Trek Uniforms (I cannot think of a witty title... or even a bad pun...)

As may be quite obvious, I have been quite obsessed with making Star Trek crafts of late. At some point I will wean myself onto other fandoms and obsessions. In fact, pretty soon I will be asking for the wisdom of my internet friends to help me decide what the next cross stitch of head-melting-ly biggness will be.

But for now I present to you some nu-Trek uniforms that I would totally wear as a Halloween costume if I were doing the dressing up thing this year. But I'm not. So goodness only knows why I made them. Hopefully someone will want them!



So here's some Command gold...



Oh noes! It's a red shirt! She's dooooooooooooooooooooooooooomed!



These are totally not the right boots for the look, but they were close enough at hand to give the right idea...



And here's a close up of the phaser on the trousers. I made a stencil of the basic phaser shape and then discharged the dye so that I could fabric paint the details over the top. Unfortunately discharging black from fabric is a bit more unpredictable than with any other colour, which is why it seems a little orangey in the middle. But it's not that noticeable with the naked eye thankfully.

Spaceship Stitched - the Enterprise is complete!

Nearly 33,000 stitches and four months have gone into this 42cm by 20cm piece of loveliness.

It's very pleasing to have finished a project and actually still like it. Goodness only knows what craziness I'll put myself through next. But for now at least I know that I like this ship. It's exciting!

This picture has come out a little blue for some reason, but I think it shows off the subtle changes in colour quite nicely.



This one's much more accurate in terms of colour.



And then this pic shows up my not always perfect stitching skills! But it does show the stitches close to their actual size.



And so she is finished! Hurrah!
